Newcastle Nitros hit the front
A last-minute change to the race format didn’t bother those in the Hunter Triathlon League, with many clubs starting their Interclub season on the front foot.
It was the Newcastle Nitros who hit the front with AG wins from both Munro and Parker – but they can’t afford to get too comfortable as reigning champs Maitland, are hot on their heels thanks to a terrific team performance, capped off by an AG win from Barnes.
A win from Sam Russell helped ensure third place for the Tomaree Tridents while the Central Coast Maddoggers sits just ahead of the Port Macquarie Pelicans, who impressed and had an AG win from Wall to celebrate. Forster & Scone didn’t leave empty handed, both wrapping up the competition with 3 points each, respectively.
It’s the Lake Macquarie Triple Threats & Single Swoopers left with it all to do moving towards Round 2 in the New Year. Can a home ground advantage bring the Swoopers back into the mix? With sometime between now and March 6, all clubs have sufficient time to pull it together before they get left behind.
