New Hume League all set for ICL05
The Triathlon NSW Forager Hume Triathlon League will be the eighth Triathlon NSW Interclub League in operation and will come into effect for the 2022/2023 season.
Long established Clubs, Leeton Triathlon Club (Bidgee Cockatoos) and Wagga Triathlon Club (Dancing Crows) will account for half of the Clubs involved. They will be joined by a brand-new Club for the 2022/2023 season, the Yass Valley Galahs.
Yass Valley President Sarah Watson said the club is very much looking forward to going head-to-head with other clubs in regional NSW.
“Yass Valley Tri Club is thrilled to be one of the newest regional Triathlon Club’s in TNSW, and we are pumped about competing against other regional clubs in the new Hume League!!”
The final team to make up the quartet will be the Highlands Shaggy Cows as they shift over from competing in the South Coast Triathlon League.
The Hume Triathlon League will feature four events in its first instalment.
Round 01 will be the Tri Husky Festival (Little Husky) in November, followed by its big sibling, the revered Big Husky in February. The Wollongong Triathlon will be the third, with the final round being the Triathlon NSW Club Champs in Forster.
TNSW CEO Adam Wicks said the addition of the Hume League achieves the organisations’ goal of ensuring access to an Interclub Series to all NSW affiliated clubs.
“It’s wonderful to see the introduction of the Hume Triathlon, allowing clubs to race locally and build that (friendly) interclub rivalry. With this new league, we have achieved our goal of ensuring every club in NSW has access to an Interclub Series – consisting of events unique to each region. It’s vital that Triathlon NSW has a chance to recognise, reward and encourage all our members, irrespective of where in NSW they are based”
Triathlon NSW are delighted to get this new league off the ground and look forward to seeing some great performances over the course of the season.
