Four in the hunt for Central West MVP honours
Our Central West contingent will descend on Ollie Robbins Reserve in Dubbo this Sunday as they hit the home straight for this year’s Interclub Title.
A maximum 35 points per club is up for grabs and it’s Mudgee in the driver’s seat. As the Red Devils hold a 17-point lead over Orange and 19 from Bathurst, they only need 18.5-points to secure the title should their closest rivals max out. Hosts Dubbo will look to finish the season on a high as they close in on The Top 3. Cowra are comfortably out of the title race, but the time is now for them to finish strong.
The race to MVP is as tight as ever with four athletes currently on maximum points as they head into the final round. Bathurst’s Mark Windsor will go toe-to-toe with Sally Wallace (Orange), Melissa Mertens (Dubbo) and Gareth Fuller (Mudgee) in what’s heating up to be the tightest battle of the League. Could we see a four-way tie, or will one athlete rise above the rest to make four out of four wins and claim the Forager Central West ICL MVP title.
As we look towards the Club MVP race it’s Mudgee’s Denley and Webster who are hot on the heels of Fuller, while it’s Wallace and Ingham for Orange. Orford is well positioned for Dubbo, tucked just behind Mertens but will likely settle for second. Bathurst’s Mark Windsor looks to take the title out this season – could he end up sharing it with Simons? And for Cowra, it’s Bernie Wilkinson who is in the lead.
If the race to Interclub Champion doesn’t excite you, the battle for MVP is enough to get you up, about and down to Ollie Robbins Reserve!
