Dubbo impress as Orange go back to back
After a close-knit season with stand-out performances by a number of clubs, the Orange Piranhas have taken out their second ICL title following the grand final round hosted by the Dubbo Stampede last weekend.
The Piranhas, accustomed to Max-Out finishes at every race this season, took home 24 points from Dubbo, which was plenty enough to solidify their gold medal place in the Forager Central West Triathlon League. They finished the League with 114 points, a similar lead to ICL02 when they won with 120 points ahead of the Mudgee Red Devils.
This year, the Devils managed to shake-up the competition by beating the Bathurst Wallabies by 2 points in the grand final, leading to a tied 2nd place finish on 83.5 points between the Devils and the Wallabies overall.
The most outstanding result at the grand final was from hometown hosts the Dubbo Stampede, who came out in force on the day to earn 20.5 points, their best result for the season. The Stampede have had a breakout season this year in the ICL, and will definitely be one to watch next year.
Cowra did not feature at Dubbo and finished the season with 7.5 points on the ladder.
Our thanks go to these five great Central West clubs and their committees and volunteers for supporting another year of the ICL. We appreciate the time and effort that goes into organising these races, and look forward to next season being even bigger. Thank you also to Interclub Series sponsor Forager Funds for their support of club triathlon in NSW.
