South Coast Interclub League – Round 1 Wrap
The 2025 South Coast Interclub League has blasted out of the blocks, and it’s the Illawarra Cannons who have stunned the competition with a commanding Round 1 victory.
Long regarded as the league’s sleeping giant, the Cannons have never won the South Coast Interclub title — but their Round 1 performance suggests this season could be very different.
Cannons Fire First
Illawarra combined depth with brilliance, collecting 116 points (30 participation / 86 performance) to storm to the top of the ladder. Their athletes weren’t just racing — they were dominating.
Leading the charge were David Raymond, Trudi Barnes, Jeremy Kenny, James Davy, and Pixie Hanson, all grabbing maximum points. They were backed by a wall of consistency from James Alexander, Eric Vickery, Belinda Jacobs, and Col Steele. With this blend of star power and depth, Illawarra made a powerful opening statement: this could be their year.

A Statement of Intent
The Cannons’ victory is more than just numbers — it’s a bold signal to the league: we’re here to win. For years, Illawarra has been close but never quite at the summit of the South Coast Interclub League. After Round 1, they’ve thrown down the gauntlet to the rest of the region — and look every bit like the team to beat.
Eyes on Round 2
The league heads to Batemans Bay in February 2026, giving the Eurocoast Nomads the chance to harness their home-ground advantage. With the Cannons firing and the Coasters and Dolphins eager to close the gap, Round 2 promises thrilling racing, fierce rivalries, and the next chapter in what is shaping up to be an unforgettable season.
