Hunter ICL08 Returns for 2025/2026

The Hunter Interclub League is back — and with seven action-packed rounds across the region, it’s shaping up to be the most exciting season yet.

Featuring a mix of club-hosted events and locally run commercial races, the League brings together the very best of triathlon in the Hunter — from community-driven grassroots racing to professionally staged events on some of NSW’s most scenic courses.

The Rivalries Ignite

Seven proud teams — the Newcastle Nitros, Maitland Magic, Tomaree Tridents, Singleton Swoopers, Forster Breakers, Lion Island Multisport and the Central Coast Maddoggers — will battle it out across the series for the ultimate bragging rights: the title of Hunter Interclub League Champions.

Each club brings its own unique energy and identity, and as always, the Hunter League is about more than just the podium. Every finisher earns points for their team, meaning participation, spirit and consistency can be just as decisive as outright speed.

Round 1: Sparke Helmore Triathlon — Hosted by H Events

The season kicks off in style at the Sparke Helmore Triathlon, hosted by H Events in the heart of Newcastle.

This iconic event is the perfect curtain-raiser — a fast, flat course showcasing the stunning harbour and coastline. Both Sprint and Standard Distance races are on offer, giving athletes of all experience levels the chance to score early points for their club and set the tone for the season ahead.

The Road Ahead: Seven Rounds of Racing

  1. Sparke Helmore Triathlon on the 9th November— Hosted by H Events (Newcastle)
  2. Hawks Nest Triathlon on the 29th November— Hosted by Elite Energy
  3. Singleton Triathlon on the 7th December— Hosted by Singleton Triathlon Club
  4. Central Coast Tri Club Race on 11th January — Hosted by Central Coast Triathlon Club
  5. Island Triathlon on the 1st February – Hosted by H Events
  6. NSW Triathlon Club Championships on the 21st February — Hosted by Elite Energy – Double Points Round!
  7. Lake Macquarie Triathlon Festival on 7th March— Hosted by H Events

With such a balanced calendar — blending local charm, challenging courses and commercial polish — the Hunter League offers something for everyone. From the technical harbour swim in Newcastle to the beachside buzz of Hawks Nest and the double-points showdown at Club Champs, every round will matter.

Participation is Power

The Hunter Interclub League celebrates what makes our sport special — club culture. Every start line filled, every finish crossed, and every volunteer cheering counts toward the cause.

Depth across all age groups, not just the front of the pack, will shape the leaderboard this year. A single strong turnout can transform a team’s standing overnight — so expect plenty of encouragement (and a few playful rivalries) from the club tents each weekend.

Who Will Rule the Hunter?

After last season’s close battles and breakout performances, anticipation is sky-high. Can the Newcastle Nitros make the most of their home advantage? Will the Maitland Magic or Tomaree Tridents mount a charge? Could the Singleton Swoopers, Forster Breakers, or Central Coast Maddoggers spring a surprise? And will the double points at Club Champs decide it all?

The only thing certain is that the 2025/2026 Hunter Interclub League will deliver the usual mix of passion, performance and proud club spirit that defines triathlon in the region.

The stage is set.
The rivalries are renewed.
The race for Hunter supremacy begins at the Sparke Helmore Triathlon — and from there, it’s anyone’s game.
