Hume Interclub League – Round 1 Wrap: Galahs Fly High at Challenge Canberra

The 2025 Hume Interclub League launched with plenty of heat at Challenge Canberra, and it was the Yass Valley Galahs who soared above the pack in the opening round. Their depth, consistency, and strong athlete turnout saw them establish an immediate and commanding lead on the ladder.

The Galahs banked an impressive 78 points, setting the benchmark early as they look to build momentum across the season. The Goulburn Rambos sit in second with 19 points, after a solid start built on a handful of strong individual performances.

Highlands, Leeton, and Wagga will be looking to regroup after a quiet opening round, with plenty of opportunities ahead to climb the ladder.

Standout Performers – Round 1

Round 1 also showcased outstanding individual efforts, with three athletes in particular lighting up the course:

  • Drew Macarthur (Yass Valley Galahs) – A commanding performance saw him take home 7 points, leading all scorers.

  • Adam McDonnell (Yass Valley Galahs) – Backing up the Galahs’ dominance, he added 5 points to the tally.

  • Michael McGillion (Goulburn Rambos) – The standout for the Rambos, contributing a valuable 3 points.

These athletes not only delivered for their clubs, but also set the tone for what promises to be a fiercely competitive individual leaderboard this season.
