Round 2 of the North Coast Interclub League lit up Yamba as NX Sports delivered another fantastic instalment of the Yamba Triathlon. Fast roads, a cracking atmosphere, and huge club pride made for an electric day of racing — and Yamba Multisport absolutely rose to the occasion.
The Stingrays were the big movers of the round, fuelled by a wave of top-tier performances.
Standouts included Collette Adams, Angus Ogilvie, Jason Culton, Darren Adams, Zoe Snape, Nicholas O’Brien, Keanu Staader, Regan Allard, Jay Adams, Veronica Barker, and Max Little, who all hauled in maximum or near-maximum points. Their collective effort launched Yamba into second place overall, just 10 points behind the ladder-leading Byron Breakers.
The Byron Breakers, however, showed exactly why they’re on top. Jaime Cascajares, Huw Jones, Deborah Fuller, and Mick Donnelly all delivered big results to keep Byron narrowly ahead in what is fast becoming a thrilling early-season battle.
Coffs Harbour also had a strong day out, with Julie Whitton, Alira Bayndrian, Melissa Shaw, and Peter Birch all scoring heavily to keep the Rockets right in the hunt for the top spot.
Further down the table, the Hat Head Hammerheads were led superbly by Jarrad Davis, Tina McEvoy, and Maria Johnson, while Grafton’s Jarvis McPhee and Jason Limbert kept the Bull Sharks firmly in the mix.
For Ballina, Len Benson impressed with a strong 10-point performance, and Tweed Valley were boosted by standout efforts from Ben Hall and Ross Woodward.
