Dolphins make their move at BB
It was a big weekend at the recent Batemans Bay Triathlon, especially for the Jervis Bay Dolphins who swam home with 24.5 points and safely secured themselves a 10.5-point buffer atop of the table.
Impressive age group wins to Crowe, Stahlhurst and Mort ensured the Dolphins left the rest of the League in their wake, with Stahlhurst’s performance ensuring he’s well in the mix for this season’s South Coast MVP title.
Shellharbour impressed with 13 points, with Heckenberg and Jones also collecting individual wins. Their third-round performance sees the Mariners cross the fifty-point mark and sit comfortably in third place heading towards Round 4 at Big Husky.
A tidy 12.5 points to the Kiama Coasters see them sit behind the Dolphins and ahead of the Mariners in the current standings. However, they will need a BIG weekend at Big Husky if they’re any hope of closing the 10.5-point gap that currently separates them from Jervis Bay.
Also picking up 12.5 points (and a performance record for themselves) was the Eurocoast Nomads with a notable age group win to Richard Jeffrey. Their performance record sees the Nomads shaping up perfectly for the Big Husky at the end of the month. Do they have it in them to set another record?
The Illawarra Cannons missed out on big points and left Batemans Bay with just 6.5 points, but their round 2 max out ensures they’re well within striking distance of third placed Shellharbour who only hold a 4-point buffer.
Big Husky will host the mother of all meetings at the end of the month as they host four of the eight Leagues in what’s shaping up to be the biggest event on (and off) the Forager Interclub calendar. With so many clubs set to descend on Huskisson come February 25th, Age Group wins will be had to come by and even harder fought.
Do the Kiama Coasters have what it takes to close their ever-expanding gap, or will the Jervis Bay Dolphins be too strong to pull up? You’ll have to be in Huskisson to find out!
