Sydney Interclub League 1: No Flat Roads, No Easy Points: Interclub Sydney League 1 Goes Vertical

Interclub Sydney League 1 – Round 3 Wrap-Up
Panthers conquer a brutal night challenge at Sydney Motorsport Park

Round 3 of the Interclub Sydney League 1 served up one of the toughest tests of the season, with Panthers Triathlon Club hosting the Sydney Duathlon under lights at Sydney Motorsport Park. While the circuit looked spectacular under lights, there was nothing easy about it — a hard, hilly and relentless course that demanded strength, grit and smart racing from every athlete who took it on.

Panthers dominate a true test of endurance

Rising to the challenge on their home turf, Panthers Triathlon Club delivered a commanding performance, amassing an impressive 146 adjusted points for the round. On a course that punished the legs and rewarded resilience, Panthers’ depth shone through, with athletes consistently pushing through the climbs and capitalising on every scoring opportunity.

Leading the charge were Daniel Richardson, James Sweeney and Rochelle Hattam, each earning 10 MVP points, setting the tone for a night that showcased Panthers’ strength across the board. They were superbly backed up by Mark Dempsey, Zsolt Veres, Kelly Collins, Rob Drady, Ethan Grice, Bryson Samuel, Cameron Edwards, Jazlyn Reid and a host of others who battled the hills and came away with valuable points.

Hills grind it out, BRAT rise to the challenge

Hills Triathlon Club once again proved their consistency, navigating the demanding terrain to secure 42 points for the round. Louise Graham led the Hills effort with a strong 9-point MVP performance, supported by determined rides and runs from Neil Matthews, Tim Batt, Larry Reisen, Gavin Tait and Jean Edge. Their collective grit keeps Hills firmly entrenched in second place overall.

BRAT Triathlon Club embraced the challenge, finishing the round with 27 points. Audrey Hall was outstanding, claiming a full 10 MVP points, with strong contributions from Mark Arbib and Anastasia Lamb helping BRAT continue their steady climb up the ladder.

Northern Suburbs and Coogee dig deep

The tough course suited athletes willing to suffer, and Northern Suburbs Triathlon Club showed real resolve, collecting 19 points. Helen Kennedy was exceptional, earning 10 MVP points, with Barbara Hill adding to the tally on a night where persistence was everything.

Coogee Triathlon Club rounded out the scoring clubs with 9 points, led by Andrew Gibietis, who handled the climbs and the pressure to secure valuable points for his team.
