Sharks strike as Giants pull away

It’s a story of the hostess with the mostess in the Sydney Triathlon Premier League as Cronulla took out Round 2 at the Richie Walker Aquathlon over the weekend. With a mammoth seven (7) age-group wins to Cronulla’s name, it’s no surprise they maxed out on 25(37.5) points. However, STG are giants in name and in nature – also walking away from RWA with maximum points.

After a no-show appearance in Round 1 from Cronulla, and a complete performance in Round 2 from STG, the Giants continue to sit at the top of the rankings. Wins to Daniel James, Gavin Biles and Helena Hayes cemented the Giants seat at the top – 25 points ahead of second placed Cronulla.

Concord Triathlon Club had a great outing collecting 18 points and claiming age group wins to Davies and Spalding. Pulse and the Coogee Comets walked away with 18 and 14 points respectively, but it was Hills who lost further ground after picking up only 11.5 points.

Reigning Club Champions Warringah have all the work ahead of them in Round 3 and beyond, after leaving RWA with less than a handful of points. For both the Sydney Triathlon Premier League and Sydney Triathlon League 1, round three will see the competition spring to life at Big Husky where we expect all Clubs to feature in large numbers.

Balmoral, BRAT and Balance have one hell of a fight ahead of them if they’re to make waves this season after having a less than ideal start.

So, we pack our bags and our predictions, and we make roads to Huskisson later this month. Will there be a Giant slayer amongst the League?
