North Coast Interclub League – Round 2
The North Coast Interclub League rolled into Pottsville Beach Tri for Round 2, with wet weather conditions forcing the cancellation of the swim leg for all events. Despite the format change, athletes from across the region turned out in force to earn valuable Interclub League points.
The biggest movers were the Byron Breakers, who produced a dominant team performance to score 149 points and climb to the top of the league ladder on 156 points overall. The Coffs Harbour Rockets (112 points) and Hat Head Hammerheads (110 points) round out a tightly contested top three, while Tweed Valley Volcanoes (72 points) and Yamba Stingrays (40 points) opened their accounts for the season.
A total of 11 athletes earned maximum MVP points, with Byron leading the way through Huw Jones, Jonathan Roper, Nerida Clarke, Peter Clarke, Robyn Darke and Sandra Killen, while Juliana King (Tweed Valley), Julie Whitton (Coffs Harbour), Kathy Cornish and Tori Maxwell (Hat Head), and Zoe Snape (Yamba) also finished with perfect scores.
The battle for the club title is beginning to take shape, but with five rounds still remaining, every race and every point will count.
The North Coast Interclub League now heads to the Kingscliff Triathlon on 22 November 2026, where clubs will once again battle for valuable league points and regional bragging rights.
