BRATS on the attack as Giants falter

As fate may have it, there was in fact a giant slayer amongst the ranks at Big Husky.

Bondi Brats ran away with the weekend after picking up a slick 22.5 points ahead of Warringah (21) and Hills Red Army on 20. In what has been a shake up in the League, STG (14.5), Cronulla (7) & Concord (9) took a turn and finished round three at the tail end of the pack.

BRAT needed to pull a rabbit out of their hat following a sluggish start to the season and that they did – after the blue wave spread across Huskisson last weekend. Performance points were hard to come by and while Elizabeth Koswara-Simms got the job done, it was the swag of participation points the club picked up that sealed the deal for Bondi.

Not to be outdone, 2021 Club Champions Warringah headed home with a tidy 21 points and remain secure in the middle of the League table.

Hills Red Army remained steadfast in their performance picking up 20 points and securing their spot amongst the top of the table – the ideal spot to be as we move towards the Redline Games to be hosted at a VERY familiar venue for Hills. Age group wins to Hart and McEwan were one of the rare doubles that saw a club pick up more than a single shot of performance points.

New kit, new attitude? The Balmoral Purple Thunder finally stamped their mark on the table after an impressive 19.5 points to finish fourth. Rocking a fresh kit, the Thunder rounded the top performances thanks to age group wins from Raupach, Poletto and Matthews.

After a slugglish start to the season, STPL has jumped to life as all clubs now rank on the table and only 19 points separate 2nd to 10th. As we near the halfway mark,  The STG Giants continue to hold a significant lead of 28 points at the top of the table, but with a number of rounds to go – there’s plenty of time for the chasing pack to close the gap.
