Panthers on top after Husky

Big Husky saw many of our clubs come out of the woodworks and pick up their first points on the season, but it was the experienced Panthers of Penrith who took the round with 15 points to sit 5.5points clear at the top of the table. Not to be left too far behind, Macarthur secured a clean 10 points to see them sit comfortably behind the Panthers.

With just under 6000 athletes competing over the three days and four Triathlon Leagues vying for performance points, age group wins were hard to come by. Key to their 15-point haul were the points secured by John Hughes and Leon Sharp as they both took wins respectively.

The Northern Suburbs Mighty Mites rounded out the weekends top three thanks to an age-group win to Barbara Hill and 9.5 points.

FilOz, Lion Island, T4 North Bondi, and Engadine each picked up 9 points ahead of LAPD Lightning (3) and the TriMob (3). A special mention to Bobby Maher for securing TriMob’s first ever Interclub points through participation in the Classic Distance.

With only 19.5 points separating 1st and 8th, almost all the clubs are still in with a shot – especially given we’re yet to hit the halfway mark and Club Championships is offering up DOUBLE POINTS!

With a little over a month between rounds, STL1 has plenty of time to freshen up and return on April 10th for Elite Energy’s Redline Games. With the event to be held at Sydney’s Regatta Centre, we expect clubs to be out in full force!
