Orange strike but Mudgee edge closer to CW ICL title

Much like those before them, the home ground advantage has proven fruitful for the Orange Piranhas. Winning the round with a MAX OUT and 35 points, ahead of Mudgee and Bathurst, the Piranhas have positioned themselves perfectly as they head towards the final Interclub round of the season.

Fresh off his third-place finish at the ACT Aquathlon Championships on Saturday, Rory Thornhill backed up with an age group win for the Piranhas alongside Middleton & Wallace.

While the Piranhas took the round, Mudgee and Bathurst could not be shaken – both keeping the pace and the pressure. The Red Devils started the Series in red hot form and haven’t yet missed a beat, with a 17-point buffer atop of the table. With this buffer, they look all but certain to take out the title in three weeks’ time.

The Wallabies picked up a very tidy five (5) Age Group wins amongst their ranks, with Mark Windsor not letting his shot at the MVP title go unnoticed.

The Dubbo Hippos had one hell of a weekend impressing with 16points – proving that why they might be out of title contention this year, the future is looking incredibly bright. Melissa Mertens secured herself an individual win and secures her spot amongst the top of the MVP rankings.

Cowra Cobras are off the mark, collecting 4.5points – their first points of this series. Better late than never, right?

As we make tracks to Dubbo in mid-March, we prepare ourselves for the battle that’s set to unfold – and it’s not for the trophy. Only a singular point separates the Wallabies from the Piranhas with the fight to claim the Runners Up title set to go down to the wire.

As for the battle of MVP, that’s anyone’s guess with Wallace, Mertens, Webster, Fuller and Windsor all sitting atop of the Rankings as we enter the final phase.
