Balmoral extend their lead in the North

Balmoral had a near perfect outing at the Nepean Triathlon this past weekend picking up 20.5 Points out of a possible 25.

There was no shortage of outstanding Purple Cobra performances at the Sydney International Regatta Centre and President Kelly Atkin will be delighted with the large number of Balmoral members who raced for their club.

Both Quentin Schneider and Gerald Renton brought maximum Performance Points home to Balmoral by winning their respective age groups. Ben Boyd had a great day out to finish second in the 40-44 Males. Nicole Pollitt and Kat Marik also tasted podium success with third place finishes. Tom Holland, Steffi Breidenbach and Graeme Nyland all managed fine 5th placed finishes.  Michelle Chen, Margie Sneddon and Paul McClarnon all finished 7th in the respective age groups whilst a second Ben Boyd of Balmoral took out an 8th place. Tony Barbaro and Gary Aitkenhead both secured well deserved 9th placed finishes.

The Purple Cobras will head to Kurnell #1 with a sizable lead in the Sydney North Interclub Series but will be fully aware that there is still a long way to go in the Season.

The Northern Suburb Mighty Mites will be delighted with their participation and performance this past weekend after a slow start to the season at the Sydney Olympic Park Duathlon. They headed home with 8.5 valuable points and increased momentum for Kurnell #1.

A 4th placed finish for Helen Kennedy was the standout for the Mighty Mites, well supported by Danielle Fiore with a 6th, Rod Phillips with a 7th and a 9th from Mark Fiore.

The Warringah Waves also finished with 9 points to finish second on the day, just ahead of NSTC.

Club Secretary Shannon Quartly and Peter Walker led the charge for the Waves, both finishing as runners up in their respective age groups. Darren Quarrell and Natalie Edwards had great races in hotly contested age groups to finish just off the podium in 4th place. There was also an 8th place for Kurt Lehman and a 9th place for Rowena Walker to cap off a strong day for the Waves.

A good day out for the Warringah Waves and Northern Suburb Mighty Mites, but a fantastic day for the Balmoral Purple Cobras. The extended their lead at the top of the Sydney North Interclub leaderboard to 17 points as we head off to Kurnell #1 for Round Three. Warringah will be looking to Kurnell as a chance to claw back ground on Balmoral, for NSTC it will be a chance to put further pressure on Warringah as they hope to leapfrog them into second on the leaderboard.

All to race for as we head to Kurnell.
